Upon Michelle Pfeiffer’s induction to L.A. she was introduced to a couple who believed in the concept of breatharianism– the ability to sustain yourself without food or water, and instead depending entirely on sunlight for your nourishment. Sounds very L.A., but unfortunately humans aren’t plants (and even plants need more than the sun to survive,) so it wasn’t too long before Pfeiffer realized the group was rather kooky.

While helping her husband, Peter Horton, prepare for a role in a movie about the Moonies–another cult–Pfeiffer realized that she was a member of one herself.
