The 30th Santa Barbara International Film Festival closed out on a happy note this weekend with a sold-out screening of Kevin Costner’s McFarland, USA.

Actors, directors and filmmakers from all over gathered in order to celebrate one another’s talents during the 11-day event that offered everything from screenings, tributes, and panels, to educational programs and more. The festival may not have the cultural clout of the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards or the allure of Sundance, but the independent film fest still serves up some of the year’s biggest noms and stars.

From fan favorites like Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and newcomer Eddie Redmayne, to respected veterans of the industry like J.K. Simmons and director Richard Linklater, find out what these celebs had to say to PressRoom VIP about the festival and the work that’s been presented there this year.

“Film festivals like these really give us a boost in confidence,” says Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto, “Actors and directors and producers invest so much money and time and effort into making these tiny little gems hoping someone, somewhere will believe in it.”
