It must be time for tea, because BAFTA LA just hosted it annual awards season gathering at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks “oohed and aahed” over each other as they made their way inside.

The BAFTA LA Tea Party celebrates excellence in the craft, and wishes the best of luck to all nominees for the awards season ahead. The get-together is also meant to raise awareness of BAFTA LA’s wider work including the Heritage Archive and Inner City Cinema programs which operate year-round.

Cate Blanchett has had a history with BAFTA, one that she recalls quite fondly. “BAFTA has been an extraordinary experience to me, all the way back to playing Queen Elizabeth. Which was one of the most terrifying things I have ever done. To have that been released and embraced by an English audience was such a relief.”

But let’s be honest, after all dealing with all the press all everyone wants is tea and scones!

“I love high tea, and I can actually make quite a good scone,” said Blanchett. That may be good for Sandra Bullock to know. Bullock insists on having scones. The hopeful awards season nominee said, “If there is not scones I’m walking out. If there are not scones and clotted cream you’re going to see me walking straight out of this building!”
