The Lost in Translation duo is back together again, and this time they’re prepping a holiday treat of miracle-sized proportions.
Murray revealed this week that he would be revisiting his talents as a crooner in a made-for-TV Christmas special. Following in line with their past projects together, they’re being very secretive about what we can expect from the content, other than that it will feature Murray’s vocal stylings and comedic charm. Murray did mention that it wouldn’t be a live Christmas special, but a pre-recorded piece:
“We’re going to do it like a little movie,” the St. Vincent star told Variety. “It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose. It will be nice.”
Coppola was also rather short and sweet in her response to the project. “We’re working on a Christmas special. Not sure when it will air, but my motivation is to hear him singing my song requests.” Fair enough.
This won’t be the first time that Murray’s shown off his skills behind a mic. Remember the karaoke scene in Lost in Translation, or Peter Venkman’s spontaneous mid-scene eruption into Santa Claus is Coming to Town? Hopefully we can expect something similar from the 64 year-old pro, a Christmas special that will deliver heart, intrigue, and surely a few laughs.
Bill Murray and Sophia Coppola are about to bring you something better than a figgy pudding. Can you wait for their Christmas special? Find out details here…
