President Bill Clinton presented the Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award to John Sykes. Sykes spoke with PressRoomVIP about the T.J. Martell Foundation: “Very few foundations have had the longevity and the impact of the Martell Foundation. It was started over forty years ago and it has been embraced by the music industry as its pet charity. As a result they have raised over a quarter of a billion dollars which is so amazing.”

Tony Martell, Founder and Chairman of the T.J. Martell Foundation, explained the amazing progress that has been made in finding cures for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. “It used to be two people died every minute from cancer. Now it’s down to one, and we want to get it lower yet.”

The T.J. Martell Foundation, headquartered in New York, was founded in 1975 by Tony Martell in memory of his son T.J., who died of leukemia. To date the foundation has raised more than $250 million dollars for research that support twelve top hospitals in the United States.
