Is there such a thing as rehab for cheaters? Apparently so. Dean McDermott, the well-known husband of Tori Spelling, has admitted himself in rehab to receive treatment for an assortment of personal and health issues. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, McDermott states that he is “grateful to be getting the help [he] needs so [he] can become the husband and father [his] family deserves.”
Checking himself into rehab comes at a time in which Tori has been devastated by cheating rumors. These rumors surfaced not too long ago when a women claimed McDermott and her slept together while he was promoting his show, “Chopped Canada,” in Toronto. To make matters worse, the woman, Emily Goodwin, 28, is stating that McDermott told her “he and Tori had a sexless marriage.” Not only is cheating bad enough, but to be making such harsh statements against one’s wife is a sure-way to make matters worse.
Tori is said to be staying strong for the four children that she and McDermott share; however, a source close to the actress claims Tori is “flipping out and is completely devastated.” Keeping the children as a main priority is crucial, but there is no denying that McDermott’s situation will affect them negatively, especially the older two, which are 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 years old. It’s probably a good thing that Tori is keeping her lips sealed about the matter because we all know that venting publicly while she is mad and heartbroken will only do more damage than good.
On a brighter note, McDermott has already stated that he takes “full responsibility for [his] actions and [has] voluntarily checked into a treatment center.” If their marriage stands any chance at all, it certainly does help that he has admitted he is in the wrong. It’s also helpful that the treatment center McDermott checked into is allowing him to leave and visit with his children.
Rumors are already spreading about the turn McDermott’s and Tori’s marriage will take. Some believe that Tori simply isn’t strong enough at the moment to leave him.
Tori and McDermott have always been in the spotlight, especially during the six seasons that they publicized their personal lives while staring in their own reality show known as Tori and Dean. We hope for the sake of the children that things can be worked out between the two.
