At the recent SXSW concert, Lady Gaga definitely took things to a whole new level when she let a girl vomit all over her. And while this is odd in and of itself, it’s also got Demi Lovato on the edge of her seat, and not in a good way. Demi has been ranting about this incident because she believes that Gaga is glamorizing eating disorders.
It makes sense that this little charade would upset Demi because she recently battled bulimia. Exactly how did she rant about her thoughts and opinions? Of course she took to Twitter. She said “Sad…@ladygaga you’re SO talented, if not one of the most talented in our industry PERIOD. Dope is INCREDIBLE. but you don’t have to do that.”
There’s no denying that Gaga’s latest gig went beyond being bizarre. After all, who in their right mind wants to be thrown up on? Gaga has revealed before that she at one time suffered from an eating disorder, so why in the world would she think it’s OK to promote vomiting?
Demi says that she understands that artists tend to have a large influence on people, and when people see their idols promoting vomiting, it may cause them to believe that bulimia is acceptable and OK.
Lady Gaga hasn’t responded to Lovato’s rantings, and to be honest, she probably won’t. The last thing Gaga is worried about is Demi. Gaga tends to do her own thing and she couldn’t care less what other people have to say about it. Who does that remind you of? Miley? Yeah, we thought so too.
These two girls have some serious growing up to do, and they better get started because they’re both already in their 20’s. It’s not like they’re teens anymore.
The main statement that drew attention from Demi is when she said “Bottom line, it’s not ‘cool’ or ‘artsy’ at all…Would you let someone bring a needle and shoot up on you? Addiction is addiction.”
Demi makes a point, but then again, addiction is something that all addicts have to deal with on their own. Perhaps she should leave Gaga alone and focus on her own recovery. Hollywood already has enough drama. There’s really no need for anyone to argue about getting thrown up on.
