If you were thinking “Wait, that’s funny, that dancer looks exactly like Kristen Wiig,” during Sia’s performance of “Chandelier” at the 57th Grammys, turns out you were right. Oddly enough, as soon as you realized it was actually your favorite funny girl, chances are your laughter turned to intrigue, and eventually acclaim.
Quirky song writer and vocalist Sia employed the top-notch comedienne to perform the dance, which has also been performed by actress Lena Dunham in the past, and was originally made famous by Dance Moms‘ star Maddie Ziegler in the summer song’s hit music video.
Par for the course, Sia performed the entire song while facing the back of the venue, and all three female performers donned her signature blonde bob (even when she was up for an award, the hairpiece replaced Sia’s sweet face.)
The otherwise predictable performance of the song was made captivating by the inclusion of such an unlikely face, transforming the piece into a pop-culture laboratory more typical of Sia’s portfolio.
Does this mean Sia will simply choose out pop icons to represent her in her quest for non-fame? Shia’s done a pretty great job so far…so who’s next in line?
Kristen Wiig added a notch to her performance belt last night. Watch her killer dance solo!
