French Mastiff Found Buried to Neck

There are a lot of things that people do in this world that make me cringe, but one of the most heartbreaking is animal abuse. We adopt these pets to gain some companionship and take on the responsibility of their care, and in return they give us blind loyalty. That’s why I was outraged when I heard this story about a French Mastiff that was buried up to his neck and anchored down so she couldn’t escape.

Pedro Dinis was walking his dog near Carriéres-sur-Seine, France, when he discovered something moving in a dry bank of dirt off the side of the road. When he saw that it was a dog, he and his own pup instantly started digging the poor pooch out of the ground.

The dog was dehydrated and in shock, so after some help from Pedro, she was rushed to a vet to recover.

After the story spread, animal enthusiasts created an online petition requesting the maximum punishment for this animal cruelty, two years in prison and a €30,000 ($32,700) fine. French police have since identified the owner and taken this person into custody to face trial. The owner tried to claim that the dog had run off and that someone else committed the crime, but the police said this wasn’t likely as the dog is old and suffers from arthritis. Luckily, this story ends on a happy note – the sweet dog is in a safe and happy place and is recovering from her trauma.

Consider signing the petition and make sure you SHARE this with your animal-loving friends.

This abuse makes me sick…
