Kelly Clarkson just can’t catch a break from the media.
Chris Wallace, Fox News host has apologized publicly to Kelly Clarkson following some particularly insensitive remarks he made about the singer’s weight.
The host made a radio appearance last Friday (Apr. 3) on The Mike Gallagher Show, and the subject of Kelly Clarkson’s body popped up out of nowhere while the two were casually discussing pizza. Gallagher went after Clarkson first saying, “Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up.”
But Wallace didn’t take the high road out, and instead threw in a zinger that sent the internet into a tizzy. “She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while,” he added.
Guess what gents, this isn’t the water cooler – you’re on a live radio show.
Fox News colleague Greta Van Susteran wrote up a “tisk-tisk” on her blog following the comment. “This ‘guy snickering’ about her weight is obnoxious. He should apologize,” writes Van Susteran.
Eventually the cow-faced Wallace offered an official apology through Us Weekly admitting the mistake. “I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment. I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her.”
Clarkson has stressed in the past how little she’s concerned with other people’s opinion on her own body.
During her pregnancy Kelly even joked about how rude people have been. “Everybody calls me fat all the time, so I can’t wait to have a reason, instead of everybody just being a jerk! I’ve never been Gisele Bündchen, so ain’t nobody expectin’ that!”
Wait until you hear what Chris Wallace said about the singer’s weight. Is this kind of behavior acceptable?
