Where for art thou clothes??
It happens all too often. At one point or another, you’ve probably experienced the mind crushing boredom of reading or listening to Shakespeare. I remember all too well sitting in my high school English class while my classmates took turns reading aloud Romeo and Juliet (for the sixth year in a row) in a mumbled monotone, while our teacher dozed in her chair. Thankfully, the following year, my next English teach taught us to read The Tempest in such a way that we couple appreciate the brilliance of the English Renaissance writer.
Shakespeare certainly can be dull and boring if his work is taught in a dull and boring approach. If, however, English learners experience a challenging, lively and rewarding introduction to Shakespeare (like seeing it in the nude), chances are, people will pay attention. That’s exactly what these women did, and it’s as controversial and you would expect.
Making Shakespeare more interesting everyday…
