ASAP Yams’s Mother Advocates Awareness for Opiod Addiction

"My son wanted to get high, not die."

On November 13, 2016, Steven Rodriguez, better known as ASAP Yams, would have been 28 years old. Yams formed the hip-hop collective ASAP Mob in 2006. Aside from managing the group, he produced many of the Mob’s albums, including two of A$AP Rocky’s albums LONG.LIVE.A$AP (2013) and AT.LONG.LAST A$AP. (2015) and ASAP Ferg’s 2013 Trap Lord. On January 18, 2015, Yams was found dead due to a drug overdose. He was 26. Two days ago, on his birthday, his mother recalled the night of her son’s tragic death.
