Does Giving Teenage Girls Fake Babies Actually Lead to More Teen Pregnancies?

Teenage pregnancy is quite the phenomenon in America. The United States has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the western industrialized world. In fact, 3 in 10 teen American girls will get pregnant at least once before age 20. That’s nearly 750,000 teen pregnancies every year. The epidemic was so high that MTV even created a highly successful reality show that documented the realities and hardships that come with being a parent at such a young age.

If you went to a public school in America in the early 2000s, chances are, your health class handed you a robot baby that you had to take care of for a week. The baby would cry, poop, have to be fed and burped. This was to encourage middle and high schoolers to practice safe sex. A recent study ironically proved that this program actually had the opposite intended result.
