The Zika fever outbreak was an incredibly big deal back in 2015 when things started picking up speed. Caused by the Zika virus in Brazil, the fever spread to parts of both South and North America pretty quickly. The virus could be dangerous to normal people, but the biggest dangers were to pregnant women. Catching the Zika virus during pregnancy could end up with the child coming out severely deformed, or not alive at all.
