"Don't Get Caught"

It always baffles me how much old white Republican men don’t know about life—especially when it comes to women’s bodies and rape. Rep. Todd Akin, the Republican nominee for Senate in Missouri once said, “From what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare … If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” I definitely missed that lesson in health class.

While defending a proposal to eliminate a state abortion fund for poor women, North Carolina Rep. Henry Aldridge said, “The facts show that people who are raped — who are truly raped — the juices don’t flow, the body functions don’t work and they don’t get pregnant.” … Uh, ok.

Todd Baugh, a Montana judge once sentenced a man to just 30 days of prison because “the 14-year-old victim was as much in control of the situation” as her 54-year-old rapist… right.

There is literally an endless list of situations like this, and most of the time, the comments go unpunished. However, this judge isn’t going to get away with his insensitive comments that easily.
