There is something seriously lacking in modern TV: adventure shows. Back in the 80s and 90s, we had Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Young Indiana Jones series and Knight Rider. Long before CGI, zookeepers, pyrotechnicians and practical effects entertained us. As I write nostalgically about my childhood, one of my first favorite dramas was MacGyver, starring the handsome Richard Dean Anderson as Bear Grylls—part lifehacker, part Ben Franklin—basically he had everything going for him: brains, braun and my young prepubescent heart.
