"Hell no. We already got Iggy; Hip-Hop can't take another hit." - Hip-Hop fan.
Taylor Swift has definitely made a name for herself in the industry. Her self-written songs about her personal life has made the 26-year-old one of the most top-selling contemporary female artists of her time. She and her guitar broke out and became wide known in the country genre, winning an American Music Award for Favorite Country Album. She became more of a mainstream artist after her run-in with Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Music Awards. Many argue that Ye’s “I’ma let you finish, but…” interruption didn’t contribute to her success, but many more would disagree.
Swift then turned into a pop-singing, chart-topping success. With hit songs like, “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Bad Blood,” she’s definitely grown as an artist and showed an alternative side from the Taylor we knew. Now, she is ready to take her career to the next level and incorporate R&B and Hip-Hop into her upcoming album. But R&B/Hip-Hop fans think Taylor needs to stay in her lane.
She’s already been accused of appropriating black and hip-hop culture.
