Have you ever been cheated on? Or maybe you’re the one that did the cheating.

Now here’s the million dollar question: Why did you do it?

As humans, we can go to amazing lengths to rationalize or justify our actions, even when it would be so much simpler to admit that we were wrong. In many ways, it’s much like a survival instinct, and we’ll uphold our innocence even when we know we’re lying.

But the truth is that affairs can take many shapes and forms and can come about for different reasons in the first place. Though cheating is cheating, not all affairs are created equal.

Psychologist Douglas LaBier noticed that there were indeed different types of affairs, so he broke them down to help unfaithful couples and individuals understand just what they were doing and why.
