Gone too far
The Cinnamon Challenge
In 2012 it became a popular challenge to record yourself swallowing a spoonful of cinnamon powder in less than one minute without drinking any type of liquid. The trend gained traction quickly and ended with tons of videos of kids spitting out giant clouds of cinnamon smoke. Doctors even warned that the challenge could cause choking, difficulty breathing and even respiratory problems.
Hot Pepper Challenge
You shouldn’t be trying this one without a glass of milk right next to you. This challenge involved eating a bhut jolokia pepper, or a ghost pepper, straight into your mouth. Many of the people doing this challenge tried to drink water after eating the pepper, but studies have actually shown that milk helps cool down your mouth a lot more than water does.
Ice Bucket Challenge
The ice bucket challenge was actually for a pretty good cause. Normal civilians, celebrities, and even politicians got in on the fun of dumping a bucket of freezing cold water onto their head. The reason was to raise awareness for ALS, or amyotrophic later sclerosis, a disorder that results in severe muscle deterioration.
The challenge was basically you either donate to the ALS Association or dump a bucket of cold water on your head. Tons of people ended up doing both.
When will they stop!? These challenges were all crazy in their own ways.
