Pope Francis Attends His Weekly Audience In St Peter's Square

In yet another example of how Pope Francis is more liberal than his many predecessors, the Holy Father stated in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday (Dec. 10) that man’s best friend goes to Heaven.

Although Catholic doctrine previously persisted that animals do not have souls and therefore cannot join pious humans in paradise, Francis revealed his personal (and pretty darn official) belief when consoling a young boy whose pet had recently passed.

“One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures,” he said.

What a guy! Crazy cat women everywhere are rejoicing, and canines across the globe are looking forward to that big chew toy in the sky.
