This past Monday (11 November) The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiered in London. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Liam Hemsworth, and the rest of the highly talented cast were received by screaming fans.

In the second installment of The Hunger Games franchise Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) returns home after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). But their arrival is quickly followed by their departure on the “Victor’s Tour”. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games that could change Panem forever.

Jennifer Lawrence commented on the scale of the film saying, “Everything is much bigger, everything is more intensified…the stakes are much higher.” Josh Hutcherson delved into what separates the second film from the first. “The first ‘Hunger Games’ is really about the games themselves and this one becomes so much more about the politics of it all, and really about how these characters interact with the new environment around them.”

Elizabeth Banks was so excited to be at the London premiere with all the fans. “We love this movie so much and we’re so excited for people to see it. Especially all these fans of Suzanne Collins and of the books and the series. It’s really, really a thrill. It’s crazy!”

“It’s just amazing. I mean look at them, they’re so excited. I’m right there with them. If I wasn’t wearing this gown I would completely be in ‘tennies’, camped out so excited for it. It’s such an incredible story, such an incredible film to be a part of. I’m just so glad I get to be right there along with everyone that I love,” said Jena Malone in awe of the fans.

The US release is scheduled to hit theaters next Friday, November 22nd. The world will be watching, will you?
