J-Law Wants to Be Treated Fairly, Not Like a Brat
Jennifer Lawrence is the latest celebrity to pen a piece for Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s newsletter, Lenny Letter. Lawrence’s opinion piece, centered around the gender pay gap she faces in the movie industry (and exposed during the Sony hack) has been receiving some rave reviews online since being emailed out early October 13. And boy does this lady have some truth-bombs for you.
In the piece, which can be viewed on email after signing up to lennyletter.com, Lawrence discusses the fine line she is often afraid to tread between demanding what she is owed and the possibility of being labelled “difficult” or “spoiled.” It’s about time the Sony Hacks were used to promote a good cause, and we’re happy to hear J-Law speaking up.
“All I hear and see all day are men speaking their opinions, and I give mine in the same exact manner, and you would have thought I had said something offensive,” wrote Lawrence. “Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale, and Bradley Cooper all fought and succeeded in negotiating powerful deals for themselves. If anything, I’m sure they were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share.”
