Wondering what Jon Stewart’s going to be doing with all his free time after he exits stage right from The Daily Show? The “voice of the left” and longtime television host has recently picked up a new hobby to add to his retirement packet: animal rights activist.
Jon Stewart and his wife Tracey “bought a farm in New Jersey with the intention of providing a home for farm animals rescued from cruelty,” announced Farm Sanctuary, an animal rights organization with the mission to “protect farm animals from cruelty, inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animals, and promote compassionate vegan living.”
Stewart, who grew up in New Jersey himself, has spoken on issues of animal rights on The Daily Show before, and he and his wife have worked with Farm Sanctuary in the past. Tracey is actually a former veterinary technician and a well-known animal activist, producing the forthcoming book “Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live, and How We Can Make Their Lives Better.” Cute!
The couple isn’t starting from scratch though when it comes to their own family farm – the two have already accrued a herd of their own, including two kids, two pigs, two hamsters, two guinea pigs, two fish, four dogs, three rabbits and one parrot.
“All rescues,” Tracy told USA Today. “Except for the children.”
The whole brood can be seen on Tracey’s Instagram.
Farm Sanctuary couldn’t be happier about the Stewarts’ future involvement, said spokesperson Meredith Turner. “We are ecstatic that there are people in the world like Jon and Tracey who care about the plight of factory farmed animals, and we encourage others to join them in support of Farm Sanctuary’s efforts to rescue, provide shelter and advocacy for these beautiful individuals.”

Clearly the whole family is in love with animals, so we’re sure they’ll be very happy with their new investment…
THIS is why we love Jon Stewart! You won’t believe how many animal rescues he has living in his home already!
