Justin Bieber Uses Knives and Sex Appeal To Man Up In New Photoshoot
In the last couple of years, the Biebs has been in the spotlight for his various acts of debauchery. Drugs, drunk driving, drag racing, vandalism, and assault are just a few of the activities for which Mr. Bieber has had charges brought against him.
This week in an interview with fellow criminal Martha Stewart for Interview Magazine, Bieber talked about a lot of things: his rise to fame, fast cars, girls, tequila. He talked about some of the collaborations and inspirations that we can expect from his upcoming album, which is supposed to have a much more futuristic feel than his previous work.
What he didn’t talk about, though, was the weapon-bearing, leather and skin filled S&M photo shoot that accompanied the interview. We’ve spent a lot of time looking through these pictures, and we’ve got our own theory about the style and timing of the bold photo set.
Not sure if Justin Bieber's photoshoot for Interview magazine was for him look like a twink in the S&M section, but.. pic.twitter.com/Heodz6AVHn

With the release date of his upcoming album drawing closer, Justin Bieber is gearing up for an opportunity to make a statement on a global stage about who he is and who he wants to be. Since he last released music, a lot has gone down: a high-profile celebrity breakup with Selena Gomez, a modeling gig as the face of Calvin Klein, and several run-ins with the law are just the beginning. Despite his millions of adoring (and, in many cases, obsessed) fans, the guy gets a lot of flack, the lowest blow being the constant stabs from people and publications at his masculinity.

And that can’t be easy. When you rise to fame as an angelic heartthrob with a prepubescent alto belt and hair so luscious that it would make most women jealous, it’s hard to shake the world’s bubblegum impression of you. We saw a similar transformation in Miley Cyrus. She wasn’t going to be a Disney-produced, wig-wearing pop princess forever, and it was really, really hard for the world to let her grow up in the spotlight. Her solution? Go over the top. People were uncomfortable with her sexualizing herself, so she twerked her stuff defiantly in the face of the world, letting them know that she can’t stop, and she won’t stop.
What skin and tongue are to Miley’s statement of her womanhood, knives and tattoos are to Bieber’s manhood. For the last couple of years, it’s seemed like Justin Bieber has been doing too much. Trying too hard, just a little too full of himself. But since his graceful acceptance of a reality check in his Comedy Central Roast earlier this spring and with a whole new album and, likely, a world tour on the horizon, it seems like Bieber may be ready to start a new chapter in his life.
Growing up is hard for all of us, and while these new photos may not be what we have in mind for our own sons’ transition to manhood, to Bieber we say: You do you.
Justin Bieber looks nothing like his starry eyed, shaggy haired former self in these shocking new photos. We can’t believe it!
