We’ve all checked in on our social media accounts during an inopportune time – but Kerry Washington has taken things to the next level. The Scandal actress admits that she continued to post to her Twitter account well after she’d gone into labor!
If you’re a fan of the show Scandal, you’d know that Miss Washington live tweets to her fans during every episode of the hit ABC series. So, in order to maintain some privacy and keep everyone from knowing if she happened to go into labor while the show was airing, Kerry set up a plan.
“Every Thursday within three weeks of my [daughter’s] due date, I loaded up pre-tweets based on the episodes and what I would want to say. I tweeted in the very early stages of my labor,” she told The Edit. “I figured that if I went completely silent on social media, then people would know I was in the hospital!”
Kerry and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha, former Oakland Raiders cornerback, gave birth to their beautiful baby girl Isabelle Amarachi last April. As a result of Washinton’s plan, the show was able to go on – with her live tweets – and she was able to keep her family moment private until she was ready to share it with her fans.
Well played, Kerry! How very Olivia Pope of you.
Posting on social media while giving birth!? Wait until you hear why…
