The awkward, yet sincere, middle child of award season, the SAG Awards, took place last night. But not everyone came to the party. Amongst the no-shows was Mark Ruffalo, who has been nominated, and subsequently passed up, for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe this season.
While Ruffalo was passed up again last night for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Foxcatcher, the incredible performer was also nominated for his work in The Normal Heart, an HBO movie centered around the AIDS crisis developed from Larry Kramer’s play of the same title.
Last night when it was announced that Mr. Ruffalo won for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries, it was discovered that the actor was already busy awarding himself with a good night’s rest. Reportedly, his wife (ironically named Sunrise,) roused Mark to inform him that he’d even won the award. In response, Ruffalo took to his Twitter account and posted his acceptance speech in a series of tweets, accompanied by a picture of him laying in his bed. Thanks for the proof, Mark.
While several fellow actors, including Julia Roberts and Jared Leto, expressed sadness at not seeing him in the room, everyone was pleased to see his incredible talent recognized. Hey, even actors have to be at work early on a Monday morning, and he definitely made our best dressed list!
A very special thanks to the love of my life, my pal, and my partner Sunrise Ruffalo. And Keen, Bella, and Odette.

Last but not least. Thanks to all you folks who have supported the movie and me all these years. Good night. Again. Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) January 26, 2015
