Kimberly Benson, 42, and Daniel Essad, 62, of Reno, Nevada were pulled over for a routine traffic stop on January 21 in Lorain County, Ohio. And the Highway Patrol knew something was up when the K9 unit became alert.
Troopers searched the Chevy pickup and found 235 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, all valued at $1.2 million.
The couple is being charged with drug possession and trafficking. If convicted, they each could face up to 16 years in prison and have to pay a fine up to $30,000.
