Will Arnett and Katherine Heigl at the Premiere of "The Nut Job"

This year’s first animated feature is now here, and it’s a crack up! The Nut Job employs quite a hefty cast of actors. The film features the voices of Will Arnett (Surly), Katherine Heigl (Andie), Brendan Fraser (Grayson), Liam Neeson (Raccoon) and Maya Rudolph (Precious).

In The Nut Job, Surly, an independent squirrel is in exile. The curmudgeon is forced to survive in the city, away from the park he used to call home. Luckily for him, Surly stumbles on Maury’s Nut Store, the one thing that may be able to save his life, and the rest of park community as they get ready for winter.

With big names from the comedy scene like Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph you can expect for things to get nutty, even for a cartoon. When we asked Will Arnett “Almonds or cashews?” Arnett paused and then delivered, “I will not be drawn into this age-old debate!…no, cashews. Definitely.”

Both having children of their own Will Arnett and Katherine Heigl appreciate stepping out of their normal repertoire to do a family-oriented film. Commenting on his character Arnett said that Surly, “is a bit of a rebel, kind of a loner. And he ends up maybe saving all the animals in the parks lives.” Heigl also spoke about her character Andie saying, “she’s a determined, almost courageous gal. She’s not a damsel in distress and she knows she can get this job done just the same as the boys, if not better.”

Get crackin’ on seeing The Nut Job.
