Rapper Young Jeezy, otherwise known as Jay Wayne Jenkins, was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, battery, and making terrorist threats in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. These were all done against his own son, a teenager. The charges go all the way back to September 2012. The name and age of the son have not been released to the press.

Jeezy is a four-time nominated hip hop performer. He works with Def Jam records after hitting the mix-tape circuit and selling over 100,000 copies of his own accord before being picked up by a label.

Police documents allege that he started a fight where he became violent with his son. He then threw his son into a shower door made of glass and then dragged him into the bedroom. At that time, he threw him on the bed and beat him. The son says that there were threats, including one where Jeezy said he would put a bullet in his head.

The charge documents say that the son tried to escape, but a bodyguard blocked a stairwell, preventing this from happening. The event continued with Jeezy choking his son and making other threats, including one of “I will kill you.” He allegedly said this after commenting that he would if he could get away with it. The event happened in September 2012 and it took until January 2014 for Jeezy to turn himself in.

Jeezy turned himself into the police after learning that a grand jury warrant was issued in his name. TMZ reports that Young Jeezy bonded out of the Atlanta jail on the same day that he was arrested by paying $45,000.

Huffington Post also commented on the subject. He has had multiple run-ins with the law in the past. In 2006, Jeezy was arrested for a shootout in South Beach Miami and had charges of gun possession and in 2008, he was arrested in Atlanta for driving under the influence. Days after his DUI, he was implicated in a large cocaine-dealing ring, which was reported by MTV News.

The attorney representing the rapper told TMZ that the matter will resolve itself and that Jeezy is thankful for his fan’s support as well as the respect held for the family’s privacy while this matter is being resolved.

There are no court dates set as of right now where Young Jeezy will have to stand in front of a judge to determine what his sentence will be. The attorney is working to sort everything out. Until then, Jeezy is out on bail where he is able to continue in a status quo manner. He is expected to go on tour later in 2014 and it should not be interrupted by his arrest.
