A large wild rhinoceros created chaos in the southern Nepalese city of Hetauda this morning (Mar. 30). The massive beast charged through the streets, killing one person and injuring at least six others according to current local reports.
The confused animal reportedly entered the city in the early morning, and after failed attempts to scare the animal away with car horns and drums, Hetauda has now brought in teams of elephants and tranquilizer guns to put an end to the rhino’s rampage.
“The whole town is terrorized by this animal. It even entered the local hospital, forcing terrified people to jump over the fences,” says government administrator Ram Prasad Thapaliya.
The city of Hetauda rests approximately 50 miles south of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, and is home to just under 85,000 residents.
