The Screen Actors Guild Foundation held its Inaugural New York City Golf Classic, benefiting the SAG Foundation’s Catastrophic Health Fund, at the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, NY. Hosted by Ron Pearlman, the event was filled with celebrities from the entertainment industry to raise funds for their fellow actors facing life-threatening illnesses and severe economic hardships.

Sponsoring this tournament was Integrated Wealth Management, which has for the past four years also sponsored the SAG Foundation’s Golf Classic in Los Angeles. With the support of the entertainment community and generous sponsors, the SAG Foundation’s Golf Classics has raised over $1.1 million in the last four years. The proceeds are given directly to the foundation’s emergency assistance and catastrophic health care fund, which provides assistance to SAG-AFTRA members who face unexpected hardships in their lives.

“Hopefully it will never happen to me, but down the road…you never know. The fact that it could be myself or people that I know who are in need of assistance from this fund brings it home for me,” says Ben Bailey, comedian and host of Cash Cab.

The SAG Foundation also offers many other forms of assistance and services that are not just invaluable to SAG-AFTRA members, but to the community at large. JoBeth Williams, President of the SAG Foundation, explains that the foundation also “has national and, now, international children’s literacy programs that help a far wider community than just actors.”
