Selena Gomez, the 21-year-old pop singer, has dealt with a variety of problems with fans going over the edge. Most recently, it was due to an intruder on her property in southern California. It happened around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, when one of Gomez’s family members called 911 after they spotted an unfamiliar face on her property in Encino, CA.
The alleged intruder was 19-year-old Juan Garcia, who was caught by police and arrested shortly afterward. There have not been reports about whether or not Gomez was home at the time. The Friday night before, she was photographed at the Beats Music Launch Party at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles.
This story has been combined with the arrest of her ex-boyfriend, Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who was arrested in Miami with drinking and driving and illegal drag racing. But the two events are not related, occurring on opposite ends of the country. Gomez was not in Miami with Bieber during his arrest, and it seems, possibly not at home when this intruder was arrested either.
According to the Associated Press, Garcia was found walking the grounds of Gomez’s home Saturday morning. He was not in the home, but outside on their property, which is private property and an invasion of local laws. Juan Daniel Garcia, who resides in El Mirage, AZ, has not yet issues a statement about the exact reasons he was on her property. However, he later made a statement saying he was just there to see Selena Gomez.
As of now, police have reported that they do not know yet if Garcia has a lawyer and they couldn’t even get a phone number for him.
This wouldn’t be the first time Selena Gomez and her family have dealt with stalkers or trespassers. They also have a three-year restraining order against a man who told Gomez he was traveling from Illinois to meet her and threatened to kill her. This restraining order was originally issued in January 2011 and is still active today.
The “Come and Get It” star may be very lucky that she had family members at home at the time, and that they were aware of the intruder and had contacted police in time to have him arrested. At this time, there is no more word on his arrest or charges, and whether or not he will be facing jail time. He may be facing a short jail sentence, or be let out on probation. Most likely, the Gomez family will be requesting yet another restraining order.
