The Bob Woodruff Foundation recently held the 7th Annual Stand Up for Heroes event at Madison Square Garden. The evening featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Roger Waters and other surprise guests. PressRoomVIP was invited to share an evening that celebrates our veterans.

In seven years Stand Up for Heroes has raised over $16 million to support wounded service members and their families. The event raises funds to help post-911 injured service members and their families thrive long after they return home. The funds raised provide support in the effort to heal the physical and psychological wounds of war.

Lee Woodruff told PressRoomVIP about how their foundation came to be: “We were in a hospital, Bob was in a coma, and we saw all of these families who didn’t necessarily have the resources we did. We decided that we had a voice and a story and we could be a voice for them. And then it grew into this, it’s just incredible.”

Chris Cuomo talked to PressRoomVIP about why he supports Stand Up for Heroes: “Bob and Lee are special people. They decided to not just talk the talk, but to raise money and provide services to people who need it most, people that everyone says they support. But the men and women who get hurt defending the country often get forgotten. I’ve been with them from the beginning, this is the best thing I can do with my time.”

Roger Waters has performed at Stand Up for Heroes the last three years. He expressed his admiration for the cause saying, “It’s very rewarding work, they’re a great bunch of young men [the band of wounded servicemen], I love them dearly.”
