Last night’s Tonight Show provided a very classic evening of entertainment, one reminiscent of an era that didn’t really need to change subjects every 30 seconds in order to keep audience engagement. The entire episode was devoted to and co-hosted by one-helluva shining star, Barbra Streisand.

Streisand’s appearance on the show with Jimmy Fallon was her first non-cameo American talk show appearance in over 50 years–which is an interim period that even Barbra admitted she probably wouldn’t be able to pull off again. The all-American diva is busy promoting her latest album, Partners, in which she sings duets with massive industry mainstays–including John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Michael Bublé, Blake Shelton, and Elvis–no, not back from the dead…through some studio magic.

The show opened with a series of duets from the album, but since Barbra’s Partners partners weren’t available, Fallon was kind enough to step into several ill-fitting shoes to try and match with her–good luck. Of course, Barbra ended up behind the desk during her interview–one of the high points of which was when she opened up about her first appearance on the same show alongside Johnny Carson.

Streisand will continue to promote her album today on Good Morning America and tomorrow on The View.
