Taylor Swift sold a jaw-dropping 1.287 million copies of her latest album, 1989, in the first week.

This makes the star the first artist in album recording history to sell over a million copies of an album in the first week, three different timessolidifying her spot as a megastar. Swift was so overjoyed with her album sales, she posted on her Instagram:

Early projections from some industry professionals estimated that 1989 would sell anywhere from 650k to 950k in the first week, proving that Swift is even more of a musical phenom than previously thought. With the last minute decision to pull her music from Spotify and the ingenious promotion of her album through giveaways, Swift now has three of the eighteen albums in history to sell over a million albums in the first week.
