I learned this hack years ago from a fellow cook. He said his grandmother taught it to him. Of course our chef didn’t approve because he was like that. He had claimed it bruised the garlic, which is something you don’t want if you are storing peeling garlic for future use. This is a fantastic, easy method if you are going to use your garlic right away.
Just place your head of garlic in a jar or two bowls positioned in a dome and shake vigorously. Voila! No more paring knife and stinky hands.
