Old dogs can learn new tricks! A video was recently uploaded to YouTube by user Sam Giovanni features his wife trying to get their baby to say “mama.” She’s holding out a treat for him, and the family Australian Shepard, Patch, took notice.
“Say mama,” she’s telling the baby. As Patch gets more and more desperate for the treat, his puppy brain kicks it into hyper gear and his barks become whines, and his whining actually comes to sound like he’s saying “mama.” It’s actually pretty amazing! Patch definitely deserves a treat after that accomplishment.
At the end of the video, it’s clear the baby has had enough upstaging from the dog and tries to shoe him away, but apparently Patch is quite helpful behind the scenes. After the baby’s grandmother sustained head injuries in a car accident, Patch became the family emergency response dog, notifying the family when she was having seizures. Sounds like you are quite a talented pooch, Patch!
