Brady Bunch, eat your heart out.
An Illinois couple recently welcomed their 100th grandchild to planet Earth — and it doesn’t seem like this massive family has any plan to stop them from coming.
Leo and Ruth Zanger of Quincy, Illinois had 12 children of their own, which in turn brought them 53 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and their latest addition is the first great-great grandchild, Jaxton Leo, who brings the whopping total to 100 grandkiddies.
“The good Lord has just kept sending them,” patriarch of the clan Leo Zanger said to the Quincy Herald-Whig. “We could start our own town.”
In fact, the Zangers do own their own real estate business together, where many members of the family have worked or will most likely work in the future.
How about having a family meal? “We rent out a church hall,” said Austin Zanger, a grandson of Leo and Ruth about ‘getting the family together.’ Apparently they need 10 turkeys or 50 pounds of ham just to fill all those tummies.
As big as the family is, the famous Duggar family from 19 Kids and Counting still lays claim to the largest immediate family. But not even the Duggars can compete with the largest family ever recorded. The Russian Vassilyev family takes the cake for the most children any couple has parented, with Mrs. Vassilyev having given birth to a total of 69 children. Impossible? She had 16 pairs of twins, and 7 sets of triplets.
Congratulations go out to the entire Zanger clan for the arrival of young Leo. As for the future?
“There’s always room for one more,” says Ruth.
‘We could start our own town.’ Can you imagine how much potato salad they need for family reunions?
