The Duggar family has entered a whole new realm of social ridicule ever since it was revealed that Josh Duggar, one of the family’s 19 children, was accused of molesting six girls, including five of his sisters, when he was between the ages of 14 and 15. TLC has made motions towards canceling the program 19 Kids & Counting (which was the top Tuesday night show on television at its peak) and is even considering creating a spinoff show featuring two of the Duggar daughters, Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar.
Now that the closet is open and the skeletons are flying, America wants to know all the dirt on the Duggar clan. Here are some Duggar family facts you may not have been privy to…
1. Gay H8
Last year the Duggars helped to get a bill passed that overturned a new law that would have prevented landlords and businesses from discriminating or firing people based on their gender identities. Michelle Duggar has also compared transgender people to pedophiles and child molesters. It’s hard to believe the love and values these people foster when they harbor hate for so many people who aren’t just like them.
2. Bulimic Past

The matriarch, Michelle Duggar, struggled with bulimia in high school. Her body image issues were revealed in her eldest daughters’ biographical book, “Growing Up Duggar.” “I have been open with my struggles with the kids before,” says Michelle.“We talk about how God has brought us out of different things along life’s way. When the girls were writing their book, they brought this up and I thought, if my sharing it is going to help another young lady, then I want to share it.”
3. Never Been Kissed
Dubbed “The Virgin Bride,” Jessa Duggar never even kissed her boyfriend Ben Seewald until the two were wed.“[As] time goes on, maybe at engagement, we’ll talk about hand holding, but we want to save our first kiss for marriage, too”, Jessa said. Now that they’re married — she’s already pregnant!
4. Jana + Tim Tebow?
Despite the rumor that eldest daughter Jana was dating NFL player Tim Tebow after her parents took a photo with Tebow’s parents, it turned out the whole story was bullocks. A rep. for Tebow confirmed that the two had “never even met.” Awkward. Everyone’s also still curious as to why Jana still hasn’t settled down…
5. ‘Yes to Sex’
Michelle’s reasoning for the success of her marriage to her husband Jim Bob? Lots of sex. “Say yes to sex, even when you’re tired,” she recommends. “Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls.” But don’t worry, they abstain from the lovemaking when Michelle has her period.
6. The Family Research Council
The Family Research Council, or FRC, where Josh Duggar worked as the executive director before he stepped down in the wake of his molestation scandal, is one of the biggest anti-gay lobbying groups in the country. “The FRC has claimed that gay activists ‘work to normalize sex with boys,’ seek to ‘abolish all age of consent laws and to eventually recognize pedophiles as the ‘prophets’ of a new sexual order.”
7. Like Mother (Not) Like Daughter

Unlike daughter Jessa, Michelle and Jim Bob “took things farther then we should have” before they were married. You’d better believe it, considering they have 19 children. Sounds a little hypocritical to us…
8. No Non-Group Texts
The kids are even chaperoned during their text message conversations. The parents must be included in a group message with all the people they’re dating. No sexting and definitely no banana or eggplant emojis.
9. No Halloween, No Beach, No Nothin’

There are plenty of sinful activities forbidden in the Duggar household. For example: Halloween. According to Michelle and Jim Bob it’s “part of a demonic realm God wants us to stay away from.” The beach? Too many onlookers, and too much looking. Apparently they do have pre-approved swimsuits — but you can bet there’s a no-bikini policy.
10. A Dummy’s Guide to Kissing
— Us Weekly (@usweekly) March 18, 2015
Since Jessa and Ben decided to wait to kiss for the first time until their wedding day, parents Michelle and Jim Bob gave them a pre-nuptial lessons on how to properly peck one another. I honestly can’t even imagine how awkward that conversation must have been.
