Just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean it’s right.
In a move that brings us back to the middle ages, Ray Donovan and Scarface actor Steven Bauer was spotted out to lunch this Wednesday with his 18-year-old girlfriend, Lyda Loudon. Us Weekly confirmed their relationship when they attended the Magic in the Moonlight premiere in late July, but unlike most 18-year-old relationships, this one has managed to last longer than a week.
According to Loudon’s Instagram account she’s a “journalist, CEO, only girl in LA that isn’t a model, former adolescent, current sarcastic brat, espresso addict, aspiring unicorn,” so basically your average teenage girl (who’s now been thrust into the public eye by a relationship with an age difference of almost forty years.) Oddly enough–or maybe not–four years ago at age fourteen Lyda also founded the conservative based Tea Party Youth Foundation.
Loudon’s mother Gina Loudon wrote a very honest open letter for WorldNetDaily expressing her feelings on the situation and her devastation at the publics reaction. “I tried to focus on one thing: My job is to love my daughter.” However, she did admit to asking herself “why Mr. Bauer did not walk the moment he realized where all of this was going.”
Bauer was previously married to actress Melanie Giffith until they divorced in 1987. They have a 28-year-old son named Alexander, ten years older than his new girlfriend.
57-year-old Steven Bauer was recently seen out to lunch with his teenage girlfriend, Lyda Loudon. How do you feel about their almost 40-year gap?
