Bravo‘s new series Ladies of London is 6 episodes into it’s first season, and if you haven’t seen it yet you bloody well should! I shamefully admit to being a tad addicted to it. The series is really heating up. The Ladies of London is like the cult classic Mean Girls…well a grown up, British high society version.
The reality series, as mentioned in the title, is set in London. Which turns out to be a small city with a big name, especially when you run with English elite. The docu-series follows American expats Juliet Angus, Caprice Bourret, Marissa Hermer, and Noelle Reno as they try to adhere to the Brit’s unwritten rules that one’s reputation is everything and respect is not easily earned. The cultural differences between the US and the UK are worlds apart, but it doesn’t keep British socialites Annabelle Neilson and Caroline Stanbury from commingling with these New World imports. From high tea to exclusive polo-clubs to English countryside retreats drama ensues as these two cultures clash.
Just take a peek at what unfolds its first season:
So who are these Ladies of London? Who better to tell us than the UK’s own Daily Mail. Below are brief bios of each cast member. For more click here!
Annabelle Neilson was born into an aristocratic family, the daughter of Max Neilson, an investment and property advisor, and his wife Elizabeth, a marquessa who worked as an interior designer.
She grew up in London and Oxfordshire, and met billionaire first husband Nathaniel Rothschild on a beach in India in her late teens. The two dated for six years before eloping to Las Vegas in 1995, which came as a huge shock to Nathaniel’s uber-rich parents. But they split just three years later, and part of the settlement was that Annabelle drop her ex’s famous last name.
She went on to become a fixture of the London party scene and is rumored to have dated Lord Edward Spencer Churchill, son of the Duke of Marlborough as well as magazine editor Jefferson Hack. Hack also had a daughter with Kate Moss, who remains one of Annabelle’s closest friends. Other famous friends include Jude Law, Sienna Miller, Damien Hirst, Naomi Campbell and Richard Branson.
During her modeling youth she was introduced to designer Alexander McQueen and became his muse and close confidant for 20 years until his death by suicide in 2010. She is currently writing a book on her friendship with the iconic designer.
A bit of a thrill-seeker, Annabelle has flown helicopters, swam with sharks, and ridden a motorbike across Australia. She has also written a children’s book called ‘On the Pond’ about birds which live in Regent’s Park.
Has two sons with boyfriend Ty Comfort
The former model was born in Hacienda Heights, California and moved to London in her early 20s to become a model. During her career she became a sex symbol and household name in the UK, gracing the covers of British GQ, Esquire, Maxim, Vogue and Cosmopolitan.
Last year, after a long struggle trying to conceive she announced she was having a baby with boyfriend Ty Comfort via a surrogate.
She made headlines soon after when she announced that she too was pregnant, defying the odds.
The surrogate gave birth to a son in Los Angeles last August and was followed less than a month later by Caprice’s second son. The two boys are named Jett and Jax, and Caprice has never revealed which son she carried.
In addition to being a new mommy, Caprice runs her own clothing company ‘By Caprice’ and has appeared in over 150 films and TV shows.
She has also starred in several West End productions including The Vagina Monologues, Rent, and Debbie Does Dallas The Musical.
Married to financier husband Cem Habib with three children
Caroline was born into the aristocratic Vesey family and says she started mixing with the royal family from a young age.
She was rumored to have dated Prince Andrew at one point, as well as Hugh Grant and footballer Ryan Giggs.
Other friends include Simon Cowell, Goga Ashkenzi and even Prince Harry’s recent ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
Caroline married husband Ceb Habib, a London financier, and the pair now have three kids and a dog name Buster.
In the preview, she talks about the moment she found out she was having twins and how she rushed home to tell her housekeeper.
‘My first words were, “Congratulations YOUR having twins.’
The couple also own a 12,000-squre-foot home on the exclusive Wentworth Estate in Surrey where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie lived when in the UK.
‘I think it has six or seven bedrooms, I haven’t really counted,’ Caroline says.
She speeds off behind the wheel in her black Porsche convertible in one scene.
But she’s no kept woman, at least not that she’ll admit. Stanbury left school at 18 and started working right away. Today, she owns Gift Library, a luxury goods service which counts ‘royals, socialites and A-listers’ as clients.
Married to husband Gregor Angus with two children
Chicago, Illinois native Juliet (and it shows in her accent) moved to London three years ago with her husband Gregor Angus, an advertising executive.
The couple now live in a house Battersea, South London with their two children, a son and daughter.
They like to play tennis.
Before moving to London, the couple lived in Los Angeles where she boasts she had many friends in Hollywood.
She graduated with a BA in broadcast journalism from USC in 1998.
The ‘fashion addict’ currently works in PR for clothing companies, but is an ‘aspiring newscaster and actress.’
Married to husband Matt Hermer with two children
Marissa grew up in upper middle class Newport Beach, California (provenance of the Real Housewives of Orange County and MTV’s The Hills) and graduated from prestigious Middlebury College in Vermont in 2003.
After college, she moved to London to start her career in PR but eventually moved back to the States to work in New York.
During her time in the Big Apple, Marissa worked for several luxury brands and it was in the city that she reconnected with one of her old London friends – Matt Hermer.
She moved back to London in 2008, married Hermer in a Hamptons’ blow-out two years later and now the couple have two sons, toddler Max and newborn Jake in a picturesque mews house off Sloane Street.
The Hermers own The Ignite Group, which includes exclusive nightclub Boujis, a favorite among royals like Prince Harry as well as popular restaurant chain Bumpkin.
‘It’s one of the most exclusive night clubs in the world. In order to get in you need to be a member, or a royal, have won an Oscar or a Grammy,’ Marissa says.
At the company, Marissa is the director of special projects, designing ‘bespoke’ parties for toddlers.
She’s also famous in London for hosting ‘big, enormously fun parties’ according to Tatler. She threw a big street party for the Royal Wedding and hosts SWAG (shooting wives and giirlfriends) dinners to keep her female friends entertainined on hunting trips.
Engaged to fiance Scot Young – still
Noelle grew up in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of a federal prosecutor and a mother who was a housewife.
She told You magazine last month that it was while reading Vogue as a young teen that she first started dreaming about a life outside suburbia.
That ambition eventually led the pretty blonde to land a contract with Elite model agency at 13.
Noelle followed ex-fiancee Matthew Mellon, Jimmy Choo founder Tamara Mellon’s ex-husband, to London at the age of 20 and decided to stay in the city, even when they broke up.
It was through Mellon that she met current fiance Scot Young, 51, who is in the midst of a bitter divorce battle with ex-wife Michelle.
Young lost his 400million pound fortune in 2006, just before he split with Michelle. She claims it was all a front to get out of paying support to her and their two daughters.
Michelle has claimed he was hiding billions of pounds abroad.
Young started dating Noelle in 2008 and proposed to her within three months. But the two haven’t been able to get married because of the endless legal situation with the divorce.
Noelle has been financially supporting her fiance through the four-year legal battle, by working as a TV presenter, brand ambassador and clothing designer.
She is the co-founder of cashmere fashion brand Degrees of Freedom and has partnered with fashion designer Zandra Rhodes for a clothing line called Z.
