Whether you’re five or fifty, finding money on the ground is always a happy surprise. When Myles Eckert and his family went to Cracker Barrel one night, Myles had the fortune of coming across a twenty-dollar bill in the parking lot. He was very excited thinking about which video game he could buy with the newly found money but his decision changed when they walked inside the restaurant.
As he spotted Lt. Col. Frank Dailey, he made the choice to give the soldier his money, along with a hand written note. Myles said he was inspired by his father who was also a soldier. Sadly, he died in Iraq just five weeks after Myles was born. After gifting the money, Myles asked his mother to take him to his father’s gravesite. Lt. Col. Dailey says he cherishes the note from Myles and looks at it every day. He says Myles has given him “a life time of direction.”
