It seems like a new fad is rising in the world of robbery and their targets are celebrities. Gone are the days of breaking and entering a simple plebeian’s home; burglars are aiming high and scoring big. We’ve been hearing more and more celebrities come out with their stories about getting robbed after Kim Kardashian’s traumatic event and the latest victim is NBA star Derek Fisher.

The former Los Angeles Lakers guard and former New York Knicks head coach reported to the police that some time early Monday morning, his place of residence was broken into. Over $300,000 worth of valuables were stolen, including his five championship rings won in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010. He told police that he left his home around 7:30 AM and when he returned around 10:30 AM, it was clear someone had been broken in through the side door and items taken. Little more is known about the incident and no arrests have been made.

Derek gained notoriety in the NBA when he played with Los Angeles from 1996-2004, and again from 2007-2012. After retiring, he joined the New York Knicks as their coach but was let go by the team two years later in early 2016. The former player has recently made headlines when he found himself in a situation with Sacramento King player and old teammate Matt Barnes. Matt allegedly stormed into his old house after learning Derek was living there and dating Matt’s ex-wife Debra Govan. The two have also gotten in a couple nasty back and forths on Instagram (that were petty AF).
