It is time to get down on your knees and thank the comedy gods for some of the best entertainment news of the summer! That’s right, the ever so hated/adored David Brent, from the original British version of the The Office, will soon grace the silver screen. The BBC produced, feature-length “rockumentary” Life On The Road will be released in 2015.
Life On The Road, which is currently in development, reintroduces us to the lovably pathetic David Brent 15 years after his failed management stint at the Wernham Hogg Paper company. In the film a documentary crew follows Brent around the UK capturing his new career as a door to door cleaning products salesman. With money from his pension, David hires musicians to travel with him, believing this will all lead to the ultimate fulfillment of his lifelong dream to be a rock god. I’ve a pretty strong feeling that this all leads to an exorbitant amount of awkward moments. Here’s hoping!
Since The Office wrapped, Gervais has kept himself quite busy creating and starring in the hit HBO series Extras and the Emmy nominated Netflix comedy series Derek, as well as a slew of roles in feature films. Despite his busy schedule, Ricky never completely said goodbye to his career launching character David Brent. He recently released a series of YouTube videos that feature Brent offering guitar lessons to his subscribers.
Haven’t seen the British version of The Office yet? Literally stop everything your doing right now, go to Netflix, and watch it immediately. I promise it will be the best decision you’ve made all day.
