If you’re a fan of Joe Dirt, then you are going to like “what’s crappenin.”

Joe Dirt 2 is officially underway and is currently filming in Louisiana.

Let’s face it, the original Joe Dirt, which was released in 2001, was an awful movie. Sure, you got a couple good laughs out of it, but it was by any stretch of the imagination a good movie. But somehow it’s one of those films that’s gained traction over the years.

Joe Dirt is more popular now than when it came out 13 years ago, and with the ever-increasing trend of movies shooting sequels– they make lots of money– why not bring back Joe? Films like Dumb and Dumber To (2014) or Jurassic World (2015) both are returning to the big screen after a long hiatus, and let’s not get started on The Expendables franchise or Horrible Bosses 2

Joe Dirt had a budget of $17 million and grossed $30 million in the box office. A small success, but nonetheless a success. So if Joe Dirt is more popular now, then why not do a sequel? And nothing has stopped Adam Sandler and Happy Madison Productions from making a bad movie before.

But let’s not knock the film before it’s even done filming. Check out this pic David Spade snapped on the first day of filming.

So far, only three actors have been confirmed in the film: David Spade, Maureen Mendoza, and Jillian Nelson. Returning characters played by stars like Christopher Walken, Kid Rock, and Dennis Miller are as of this moment unknown.

A tentative release date for the film is sometime in 2015. Most likely the film isn’t going to be great, but just David Spade in a mullet is funny enough. The film is sure to trigger a few chuckles, but we’ll have to wait and see if it can deliver a few better jokes than the title character eating a burger off of a frozen piece of crap.
