Save the drama for your mama… especially when she’s being accused of doing cocaine with you!
Lindsay (28) and Dina Lohan (52) are suing Fox News Channel after the show Hannity aired a segment in which journalist Michelle Fields stated that the women do cocaine together. The episode was discussing celebrity drug usage following the tragic death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. Although the defamation occurred a year ago this week, news of the lawsuit is just beginning to catch media attention now.
According to the Lohans’ lawyer, Fields’ comment was “outrageously slanderous and defamatory” and that the Lohans “will continue to suffer severe mental and emotional distress; embarrassment and humiliation; pain and suffering; and economic loss, including loss of income, entertainment and acting contracts, present and future diminished income and economic opportunities.”
Although Fox aired a disclaimer saying that Fields’ comment was never verified, clips of the accusation on the internet do not carry such a statement, leading to widespread circulation and audiences taking the statement as truth.
Lindsay’s party lifestyle had been the speculation of the media following her success in films like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. In 2006, Lohan admitted to attending AA meetings, and shortly thereafter she entered rehab for the first time. Reportedly, she has been to rehab a total of six times as she fights an ongoing battle with addiction, mainly to alcohol. These days, any news of Lohan seems to be about her comings and goings to court hearings.
You can watch the clip from Hannity below, in which Michelle Fields holds parents accountable for celebrity children’s often chaotic and tragic spirals into addiction and self-destruction. Sean Hannity, the show’s host, describes the topic as “train wrecks and tragedy about to happen,” belittling young stars’ lives into media-warped moments of either great success or great strife and stripping them of the all-too-human in-between. Is Fields’ statement uncalled for?
But more importantly, do these two really look like a mother-daughter duo that would do coke together?
