In an entirely unsurprising, yet still offensive, turn of events – Mike Huckabee has offered up some interesting thoughts on Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s marriage and careers. And yup, you guessed it, they’re wildly racist with a dash of sexism!

The comments come from Huckabee’s new book called “God, Guns, Grist and Gravy,” in which he posits his sage advice from the White House all the way to… well, Beyoncé.

Let’s take a look at what Mikey had to say:

“Beyonce is incredibly talented – gifted, in fact. She has an exceptional set of pipes and can actually sing.” So good so far. You and the rest of the planet are in agreement.

“She is a terrific dancer–” Duh!

“– without the explicit moves best left for the privacy of her bedroom.” Wait, what? And deprive the world of some of the most viral dance moves of the last decade?

But here’s where it gets really good.

“Jay Z is a very shrewd businessman … but I wonder: does it occur to him that he is arguably crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object? … She must know that millions of young girls look up to her as a role model to emulate. And she even has a daughter herself now. So why has she done this?”

Congratulations Mike, you have just called Beyoncé a prostitute.

While the performing artist certainly celebrates her body and her sexuality (as integral facets of her personality that she’s unafraid to share with the world) the analogy is grossly misplaced. Yes Mike, Beyoncé might be on display, but she is never for sale.

This is a couple that has single-handedly changed the face of the music industry through their artistry and talent. They support one another in their career moves (and it’s not like Jay-Z has had a lack of scantily clad women offering up some funky moves in his own videos.)

But we won’t even begin to unpack the sexism sitting under the piles of racism implied in his comments.

Perhaps if Beyoncé just slid her sexuality and sex life under the rug until it popped back out on the other side like one of these guys, she might be far more successful, but probably not.

It’ll be interesting to find out who else Mike has advice for in his new book.

But going after the Queen Bey? You’re going to get stung.
