There have been protesters all around the country standing up against the authorities drawing their guns on the innocent. The protesting began after the grand jury’s decision behind the Ferguson shooting, not to indict Darren Wilson. Protesters nationwide are marching against police brutality, chanting “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” And to add fuel to the fire, during the time the trial was taking place, there was another shooting and another young victim.

12 year-old Tamir Rice, was fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer while playing in a park near his house. The young boy was holding a toy gun, with the orange safety tip removed. A bystander called 9-1-1 around 3:30pm claiming a “guy with a gun pointing it at people.” Cops responded to the call immediately. Upon arrival, they were quick to open fire on Rice.

According to Jeffrey Follmer, the president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, a rookie officer was the one to pull the trigger on Rice. According to Cleveland News, “the caller had informed dispatchers twice that the gun was probably fake, but that detail was not relayed to the responding officers, Follmer said.” The park’s camera caught the shooting at Cudell Recreation Center on tape. The video contains no audio.
