After 40 years, Of Mice and Men is back on the Broadway stage. The critically acclaimed revival stars three big Hollywood names who are all making their Broadway debut: Oscar nominated James Franco, Bridesmaids’ Chris O’Dowd and Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester.

John Steinbeck’s novella follows George (Franco) and Lennie (O’Dowd), an unlikely pair of friends drifting across the farms and fields of California, holding fast to their dream of one day having an acre of land they can call their own. The two make friends and enemies along the way, but are destined for tragedy.

The new production, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, has received raving reviews. The Associated Press said, “John Steinbeck’s play about friendship and humanity in rural California is smartly directed by Anna D. Shapiro.”

“A flawless, beautifully acted revival of John Steinbeck’s 1937 play,” describes Variety Magazine.

Time declares that, “Shapiro’s crisp, unfussy production reminds us what an expert piece of stagecraft Steinbeck created.”

Be sure to see Of Mice and Men at the Longacre Theatre. The limited engagement is set to conclude on July 27.
