One World Trade Center Is Open, and New Yorkers Are Instagramming Like Proud Parents!

Over 13 years after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the doors of the new One World Trade Center opened for business–and New York City residents couldn’t be more proud! Like a shimmering phoenix the tower has grown remarkably fast, reshaping the skyline of one of the world’s most recognizable epicenters (now, if they could only get Houston St. straightened up!) Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a public statement today:

“One World Trade Center serves as a symbol of the resilience of the people of New York. Today, as we open its doors for the first time, we remember that strength and courage will always conquer weakness and cowardice, and that the American spirit, defended by proud New Yorkers, will not be defeated.”

The first people into the new complex were 175 employees of publishing powerhouse Condé Nast, but every New Yorker has been looking upwards all day, checking the reflection of their updated city in the walls of the new tower. Like proud parents, they just can’t seem to stop Instagramming to show her off. Welcome to the family #1WTC! Check out some of these gorgeous ‘grams:
